The mini stix program is offered to boys and girls ages 4-7. During this four week program, coaches follow the American Development Model of USA Field Hockey and work with players to discover, learn, and play the sport of field hockey. The focus of programming at this age is to learn basic skills, game play and mostly having fun.
The program will use a bigger, lighter ball (a GO ball) than traditional field hockey and utilize lighter, plastic sticks (GO stick), specifically designed for the youngest players. These new sticks and balls are also available for purchase with your registration if you want to keep them, which are only sold through USA Field Hockey.
The program will run on 4 Saturday mornings, September 14- October 5, with 75 minute sessions. The program will conclude with an invitation to attend a varsity field hockey game and join the high school players, who will help facilitate this program, for warm ups and to sit with them during the game.
This program is open to boys and girls who are residents of Belchertown or surrounding towns.
